Innate versus Learned Knowledge
نویسنده
چکیده
Halperin's Neuro-Connector model of learning and motivation requires the inclusion of considerable designer knowledge, but also learns continuously, editing and correcting some of this information. This paper describes some experiments with a computer implementation of this biological model which indicate that fast learning of new material is easily acquired as promised. However, diÆculties in unlearning mean that certain problems are expected.

Htr2a-Expressing Cells in the Central Amygdala Control the Hierarchy between Innate and Learned Fear
Fear is induced by innate and learned mechanisms involving separate pathways. Here, we used an olfactory-mediated innate-fear versus learned-fear paradigm to investigate how these pathways are integrated. Notably, prior presentation of innate-fear stimuli inhibited learned-freezing response, but not vice versa. Whole-brain mapping and pharmacological screening indicated that serotonin-2A recept...
متن کاملInnate and Learned Emotion Network
Autonomous agents sometimes can only rely on the subjective information in terms of emotions to make decision due to the inavailability of the nonsubjective knowledge. However, current emotion models lack of integrating innate emotion and learned emotion and tend to focus on a specific aspect. This paper describes the underlying new computational emotion model in ASMO which integrates both inna...
متن کاملHepatitis C virus versus innate and adaptive immune responses: a tale of coevolution and coexistence.
Since the identification of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) 20 years ago, much progress has been made in our understanding of its life cycle and interaction with the host immune system. Much has been learned from HCV itself, which, via decades of coevolution, gained an intricate knowledge of host innate and adaptive immune responses and developed sophisticated ways to preempt, subvert, and antagoni...

متن کاملLearning the unlearnable: the role of missing evidence.
Syntactic knowledge is widely held to be partially innate, rather than learned. In a classic example, it is sometimes argued that children know the proper use of anaphoric one, although that knowledge could not have been learned from experience. Lidz et al. [Lidz, J., Waxman, S., & Freedman, J. (2003). What infants know about syntax but couldn't have learned: Experimental evidence for syntactic...
